The Board of Trustees is pleased and proud to welcome four new distinguished members to the Advisory Council of the National Institute of Social Sciences. The Advisory Council is designed to be an assembly of accomplished scholars, experts, and practitioners in the social sciences and related fields whom the Board of Trustees and Officers can call upon for advice and counsel. It is currently comprised of former Gold Medal Honorees, leading scholars in the social sciences and cognate fields, leaders of educational and not-for-profit institutions focused on the social sciences, and distinguished artists, journalists, and performers whose work affects and is concerned with the advancement of knowledge and the betterment of society.
Advisory Council members have no formal governance duties or responsibilities. They help the Board of Trustees and Officers with guidance and counsel on strategy, grant-making, potential Gold Medal Honorees, educational activities and events, and other operating activities of the National Institute. Each year, Advisory Council members are invited to an Annual Gathering where they can meet and socialize with each other and Members, Trustees, and Officers of the National Institute.
