The National Institute of Social Sciences is pleased to launch its Dissertation Grants Program for 2022. NISS Dissertation Grants are designed to support outstanding Ph.D. students who need additional resources to complete doctoral work that promises to significantly advance their fields of study.

The Board of Trustees and Officers of the National Institute of Social Sciences are shocked and saddened to learn of the death today of former Gold Medal Honoree Paul Edward Farmer. Dr. Farmer passed away in his sleep while in Rwanda. He was 62 years old.

On Thursday, December 2, 2021, the National Institute held its 107th Annual Gold Medal Gala in person at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. National Institute President Fred Larsen awarded Gold Honor Medals to this year’s honorees, Kwame Anthony Appiah, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and Amartya Sen, for distinguished service to humanity.
